<p style="text-align: left;">In my previous podcasting experience, I used <a title="audacity software" href="http://audacity.sourceforge.net/" target="_blank">Audacity</a>, an open-source audio recording and editing program downloaded to my computer. I had a great experience with it and found it relatively easy to use.</p>
<p>Recently, I found a challenger to Audacity: <a title="myna audio editor" href="http://aviary.com/launch/myna?lang=en" target="_blank">Myna</a>, another audio editing program. It has similar capabilities, but one major difference: it works directly from your browser. Thus, no download necessary.</p>
<p>Myna is a product from <a title="aviary" href="http://aviary.com/" target="_blank">Aviary</a> (who is already known for their free image-editing suite). I tried it out and was very impressed. Myna offers tools to cut, edit, mix and mashup audio. Furthermore, it easily provides options to share and/or embed the media into webpages. For its simplicity and ease of use, I would recommend it.</p>
<p>Within a matter of minutes, I easily cut a quote out from Rachel Maddow from her Sept. 17th show &#8211; a <a title="rachel maddow clip-wonk on university of maryland" href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/" target="_blank">segment devoted to Barack Obama&#8217;s speech on health reform at the University of Maryland</a>. She said something quite memorable that my friends from the University of Maryland would appreciate. As such, I cut the audio, caught the quote and alas, here it is:</p>
<div><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="290" height="24" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="FlashVars" value="soundFile=http://rookeryiis3.viary.com/storage/workspace/_temp_mixdown/2208803_e5a3.mp3" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="menu" value="false" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="src" value="http://aviary.com/flash/aviary/audio/embed/player.swf" /><param name="flashvars" value="soundFile=http://rookeryiis3.viary.com/storage/workspace/_temp_mixdown/2208803_e5a3.mp3" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="290" height="24" src="http://aviary.com/flash/aviary/audio/embed/player.swf" wmode="transparent" menu="false" quality="high" flashvars="soundFile=http://rookeryiis3.viary.com/storage/workspace/_temp_mixdown/2208803_e5a3.mp3"></embed></object></div>
<div><a href="http://aviary.com/artists/lindyjb/creations/wonk-on">wonk-on.egg</a> on <a href="http://aviary.com">Aviary.</a></div>
<p>&#8220;Wonk on, University of Maryland! Wonk on. The Geeks shall inherit the earth.&#8221;</p>
<p><em>10/10/2009</em></p>
<p><em>As you can see, my audio &#8220;egg&#8221; creation from Myna isn&#8217;t working properly as there is an &#8220;error opening the file.&#8221; It worked the first few times, then nuthin&#8217;. Disappointment, Myna, that it&#8217;s not working. Why not, eh?! I&#8217;ll continue to troubleshoot. Is it me, or is it Myna?</em></p>
