I am a blend between a tech support person and an educator and my personal challenges have been to increase the efficiency of technology within the classroom to aid instructors and their teaching. One scary thought that the video brought up was that related to technology, half of what a student learns in their first year will be outdated by year 3. The techie in me sees a need to stay ahead of emerging trends and be persistent about "discovering" the next big useful tool for classroom technology. I also think about the ways to keep the faculty of my department trained and comfortable to use this technology so that it can be useful. The educator in me thinks that its time to shift focus in the classroom and stop teaching "how to" and start teaching "how can I figure that out." The resources change less then the technology, so do I start teaching my web design students to where I have discovered the answers are instead of teaching them the answers?
